John is a very practised Airworthiness Manager in both the UK civil & military operations. He uses his broad technical and diagnostic skills together with his commercial understanding to help clients understand how they can best meet the intent of regulation along with improving their performance of airworthiness and maintenance.
Very experienced in the practical application of Part M and Part 145 together with the MAA RA4000 series of regulations, John’s 38 years in the aviation industry have encompassed working with large fixed wing turboprop and jet aircraft as well as military fast jets and helicopters in both maintenance and CAMO management roles.

Lead consultant for all civil Continuing Airworthiness (Part-M, Part-CAMO, Part-145) training & diagnostics activities.
Works with clients to improve organisations performance, develop competence pathways for staff & improve maintenance practices.
Consults and advises in the understanding, development and embedding of Airworthiness regulations into organisations through workshops, diagnostic tools, data analysis, benchmarking and promoting good practice.
Provides strategic, management and technical expertise to advise and enable organisations to gain a clear understanding of the performance of their Continuing Airworthiness and Maintenance tasks and to improve them.
Career background and experience
Prior to joining Baines Simmons in 2019, John had a career in the Royal Air Force, initially as an Airframe Technician and has gained operational experience with multiple aircraft types in Northern Ireland, the broader Middle East, Iraq, the Former Yugoslav Republics and Afghanistan. More recently he has been placed in industry (Parts 21 G and J), developed policy and training for Military aircraft maintenance and managed the maintenance of a fleet of large transport aircraft. Most recently he has held a CAMO (EASA Part-M) management role.
