Career background and experience
Prior to joining Baines Simmons in 2018, Steve began his career in the Royal Air Force flying as a Navigator on Chinook helicopters with operational experience in Bosnia, Northern Ireland and Sierra Leone, he was a Flight Safety officer and developed Human factor training courses. Upon leaving the RAF Steve relocated to Sweden and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), first as Chief Investigator, responsible for incident and accident investigation and then 6 years in the position of Head of Safety Office and Safety Manager. Steve’s achievements include:
Chairman of the IATA Accident Classification Technical Group, industry group that classifies recent aviation accidents and produces annual IATA safety report.
Member of STAR Alliance safety committee.
Implementation of a large airline SMS.
