Accountable Managers and Nominated Persons need to be able to demonstrate to the regulator that they fully understand their accountabilities and are capable of discharging their responsibilities. For Accountable Managers who are new to aviation, the regulatory landscape can be a minefield, whilst for managers who are nominated for the first time, the prospect of the Regulatory Authority assessment can be daunting. This one-to-one workshop is bespoke in nature and designed to help leaders and managers in these roles fulfil their duties effectively.

Is this course right for me?

This workshop is suitable for existing and nominated Accountable Managers and Nominated Persons (EASA Form 4/Résumé/UK CAA SRG 1769/EMAR/UK MAA Form 4 holders) from the following types of approved organisations:

  • Design (Part 21 DOA, EMAR 21J, UK MoD MRP Part 21 Subpart J (DAOS) etc.)
  • Production (Part 21 POA/EMAR MPOA)
  • Air Operators (Airlines and Rotary Wing Operators operating under Part-CAT)
  • Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisations (Part CAMO/EMAR CAMO/UK MoD MRP Part M Subpart G)
  • Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MROs) organisations (Part 145, EMAR 145, UK MoD MRP Part 145 (MAOS))
  • Pilot and Engineer Training (Part 147, ATO)
  • Aerodromes
  • Regulatory Authorities (Civil and Defence)
  • It is also beneficial to nominated deputies and those who are expecting to move into a role as part of a succession plan

Course details
Course format: This an interactive one-to-one (which can be increased to a maximum of 3) workshop and includes a mix of flipchart work and PowerPoint presentations. The workshop environment promotes focused and relevant discussion and allows you to evaluate new processes and techniques.
Course level: Foundation Level Training (F) is suitable for those with little or no prior knowledge of the subject who are looking to develop a fundamental level of competence.
Assessment process: No formal assessment. Formative feedback is provided by the facilitator.
Course size: 3 person maximum at our Aviation Safety Academy or on-site at your facility. This workshop can also be delivered virtually.

Is this course suitable for a small to medium size organisation?

Yes; we look at the intent of the requirements and allow you to explore how to best apply the principles to the size and scope of your organisation.

I am totally new to my role; will this course give me all I need?

Not everything, but it will help you build a solid foundation from which you can develop. It will confirm what you do know and identify any gaps and help you build a development plan or a research/reading list.

As an Accountable Manager I’m very dependent on my Nominated Personnel, can they join me on this course?

Yes definitely; being able to sit down without the daily distractions of work and discuss your accountability, responsibilities and how to manage the delegation is a rare luxury and is always time well spent developing an effective team.

We have approvals from several regulators, how do I ensure that I am operating an effective management system?

Our team are very experienced in navigating the complexities of multinational approvals and will help you identify the most efficient and safest way to meet all the requirements, examples of good practice and highlight areas for attention.

I work in the defence sector; is this suitable for me?

Yes - the course is equally suitable for both the civil and defence sectors as it focuses on the management system approach to safety and the respective roles required in any organisation – irrespective of the sector – to achieve it.

I do not have an aviation background, will the course equip me to be an Accountable Manager?

From a leadership perspective, yes. However, Regulators expect a high-level understanding of the applicable Rules, which is covered at a shallow level, but a better understanding could be achieved through attending a manager-level Regulation session, self-study or briefing by compliance experts in your organisation.
