He brings a wealth of practical expertise in implementing safety improvements across both management and staff levels within organisations. Pete leads training and consultancy projects designed to drive cultural change and foster effective safety management practices.

Pete is a specialist in leading safety change programmes, providing consultancy, and delivering training in Safety Management Systems (SMS), Human Factors (HF) and Error Management, Effective Event Investigation and Continuing Airworthiness Regulations.

His client portfolio includes leading aerospace organisations such as the UK Civil Aviation Authority, European Union Aviation Safety Agency, European Defence Agency, British Airways, KLM, Royal Navy, BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, QinetiQ, and Leonardo, among others. Pete’s ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders ensures tailored and effective safety solutions that improve both organisational efficiency and safety performance.

Pete’s career in aviation has been varied and dynamic, offering experience across both military and civil aviation domains. He has worked with multinational organisations globally and possesses expertise in both fixed-wing and rotary-wing operations.

Before joining Baines Simmons, Pete served as a Training Manager at Babcock Defence Services, where he was responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive catalogue of technical and safety training programmes. His hands-on experience as a technician, supervisor, instructor, and manager has equipped him with a practical understanding of aviation at every level.

Pete’s achievements include:

• Leading the UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA) aviation safety training programme, ensuring the delivery of effective safety education across the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, and British Army.
• Successfully developing and implementing a Human Factors and Error Management System across multiple sites in two countries.
• Acting as the company Flight Safety representative at a busy UK military airfield, Pete championed initiatives to improve flight safety culture and operations.
• Pete developed and delivered a comprehensive Safety Management System training package for the European Defence Agency, training major stakeholders from every European military regulator.
